Department of Political Science

D.P. Vipra College stands as one of the leading postgraduate colleges in the state of Chhattisgarh. A significant achievement of the college is that it has secured an 'A' Grade from NAAC on two separate occasions. Recognizing the importance of the subject, the founder, Prof. Ramnarayan Shukla, established Political Science as a major department in 1969. Postgraduate classes commenced in 1984. The department has served as a research center-affiliated first with Guru Ghasidas University (1991-92) and currently with Atal Bihari Vajpayee University. The first Head of the Department was Dr. Umashankar Shukla.

The department consistently maintains the highest student enrolment among all departments in the college. Currently, approximately 1,200 students are pursuing undergraduate studies, while 54 students are enrolled in postgraduate programs. It is a matter of great pride for the department that its alumni are bringing renown to the institution by serving in various administrative positions. Furthermore, students from this department have consistently been at the forefront in securing top ranks on the merit lists.
