D.P. Vipra College, established in 1969–70, is one of the leading colleges of the Bilaspur division. The Department of Biochemistry was introduced under the Faculty of Science in 1991, and undergraduate classes began in 2008–09.
With autonomous status, the department currently offers 30 undergraduate seats and has consistently produced university merit holders.
